Arthur & Angie Blank
On behalf of our entire family, Angie and I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Mountain Sky. This year marks the 20th consecutive summer that our family has spent at the ranch, and we look forward to getting to know you and making your time here a special experience. We also hope that you have a chance to meet and get to know some of our family members during your stay – this is a place where new friendships with our guests begin each and every year. We hope you will enjoy your time at Mountain Sky as much as we do. We feel strongly there is no better place to reconnect with nature and with the most important people in our lives.
AMB West General Manager
I was raised in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, where my parents were co-owners and operators of several restaurants. I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in finance. After graduation I decided to spend a summer in Big Sky, Montana. I met my wife Kelly at a ranch and soon figured out that guest ranching was a perfect career fit for me. Our son Baylor is thirteen years old and he looks forward to dodgeball and Splashball all year long. We also have a daughter, Molly, who is eleven. Molly is a horse lover so you may see her at the barn. As an outdoor enthusiast, I love all the recreational opportunities that Montana has to offer. I am so lucky to be able to share this enthusiasm with the folks who come here to experience the outdoors. I look forward to spending time with each one of you.
My Mountain Sky career began as a dishwasher back in 2001, and numerous attempts to find a “real job” were foiled by a deep love for this wonderful community of people tucked in these beautiful mountains. After graduating from Gonzaga University (Go ZAGS!) with no clear plan, I decided to become a “seasonal professional” so that I could spend my winters experiencing different things: I did an extensive backpacking tour of New Zealand; failed (spectacularly) to start a student travel company in Florence, Italy; worked at local ski hills and tried my hand at title insurance (not for me). I did take enough time off to meet the love of my life, Stacy, while helping to resurrect a failed microbrewery in central Washington. I returned to the ranch engaged, and the two of us were married here in 2009. When I’m not here, you’ll likely find me taking in the views of Bozeman from the porch of our fixer-upper in Bozeman. fixer-upper.
Hey everyone! I’m excited to say this will be my first time to visit Montana and thrilled Mountain Sky is my first home here. Although I have never been to Montana, I have always had a deep love and appreciation for the West and have visited the Rockies and Wasatch mountains many times. I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA and recently graduated from The University of Mississippi. I’m leaving Oxford, MS with a heavy heart, but I can’t think of a better way to begin this new chapter of my life than with Mountain Sky. I’m looking forward to spending my days exploring all that Montana has to offer, meeting new friends, and working hard to make sure the guests at Mountain Sky are comfortable. I love nothing more than a night filled with live music, food, and friends. Whether it’s horses, campfires, kids or their parents, I am eager for the opportunities. Can’t wait to meet you all and make this summer the best one yet!
I’ve been at the ranch for many years and reside at the lower ranch with my wife Jolene and our five children, Makaila, Caleb, Natalia, Josiah and Ethan. I look forward to meeting all of you, as it will be my task to find you the perfect four-legged friend for the week!
When I was a senior in college at Arcadia University, I was procrastinating studying and pulled up Google and typed in the words “fun jobs”. After some quick browsing, Mountain Sky Guest Ranch caught my eye. I decided this would be the perfect six-month post-grad experience before looking for a full time job on the east coast. Six months has turned into what will be my fifth season this year and I could not be more excited to have the world’s most fun job again. Montana has become my home and Mountain Sky my family, and I cannot wait to share new experiences with you all this summer. Feel free to join me on the trail, share a Moose Drool, do some two stepping, or chat with my excellent team of housekeepers and I as we tidy up your cabins!
This will be my first summer at Mountain Sky. My culinary career began in Alaska after graduating from University of Puget Sound in 2013. I have since traveled all over and learned a variety of cooking styles. My background is in French and Latin food, but I have also had stints with Italian and Japanese cuisine as well as a substantial amount of bread baking. Some of my culinary residences have included a second summer in Alaska, time in Berlin, Napa Valley, Steamboat Springs, San Diego, the Anderson Valley, a first summer in Montana in 2016, and some time in Oregon. I quite enjoy what Montana has to offer and am excited to see what the summer has in store.
Grounds & Maintenance
Hello all! This will be my first summer at Mountain Sky and I am more than excited to be here. I grew up in the Chicagoland area before moving away for college. I attended the University of Iowa where I got my undergrad degree in chemical engineering and masters in environmental engineering. At Mountain Sky, I will be working with the maintenance team. In my free time, I enjoy hanging with friends, hiking, camping, riding my bicycle and motorcycle, among other things. I look forward to seeing you all on the ranch!
Hey y’all! This will be my 8th summer at Mountain Sky but my first time on staff! I’m from London, England but am currently a rising junior at Elon in North Carolina studying Strategic Communications and Communications Design with a minor in Criminal Justice. When I’m not coding websites and making social media plans, you can find me cooking, hanging with friends and taking photos of everything! If you ever need a dance partner to act stupid with or want to stalk John Mayer…come find me! I’m so excited to show all the new guests the magic of Mountain Sky and help remind old guests why they come back year after year! Can’t wait to meet everyone!
I am so pumped to be out in Montana with y’all this summer! Eager to escape the Atlanta city traffic and explore Paradise Valley. I just finished my junior year at Furman University in Greenville, SC. I was abroad in Florence, Italy during the fall and spent the spring semester in Latin America. If you can’t tell already, I love to travel and explore the outdoors. I have climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and trekked throughout Patagonia, Argentina. Next up on my adventure list is Mountain Sky with you! I cannot wait to have a spectacular season and make wonderful memories.
Guest Services, Fall Season
Greetings y’all! I’m thrilled to be coming back for my second season at Mountain Sky. Currently, I’m finishing up a degree in civil engineering at Georgia Tech, with plans to pursue a career in traffic engineering. While the library commands a lot of my time, I like to balance it out with running, backpacking, playing guitar, or simply exploring Atlanta. As fun as the city is, I can’t wait to get back to the ranch for some much needed fresh air and good times. While I’m back in the Treasure State I’m hoping to make a trip up to Glacier, explore more of Bozeman, and if I’m lucky, make a go at Granite Peak.
Besides being a bit older and balder, my old business card still describes my talents pretty well: Cowboy, packer and hunting guide extraordinaire • Horses and mules bought and sold, trained and traded • Wild cattle caught • Elvis songs listened to over and over again • Dogs trained • Wild cats captured • Saloons emptied • Marmot hunts organized • Line dancers tortured • Wilderness exploration • Multiple attempts at understanding the female mind undertaken and failed. I look forward to seeing you all at the golf course and clay shooting!
I am very grateful that Mountain Sky has been my home for six years now. I was born and raised in Virginia. After graduating college in 2011, I decided to venture out West and give seasonal work a try, and I’ve been enjoying every minute ever since. I still haven’t gotten used to Montana winters, so I am ecstatic that the warm summer months are upon us. While I’ve transitioned from Housekeeping to Human Resources, I’m sure you will still see me walking around with a housekeeping cart from time to time, or enjoying a lively night in the saloon. Cheers!
Hey everyone! This will be my first summer at the ranch and I could not be more excited to meet you all. I grew up in Minnesota south of the cities and am finishing my junior year at Saint John’s University. I love to spend my free time with friends and family outdoors going hunting, fishing, and hiking. Also, I love to play sports and am very competitive. I am stoked to make many memories with you all and look forward to a great summer at Mountain Sky.
Aloha from the University of Montana Western! I am just now waking up and realizing Mountain Sky is not a dream, it is my reality, and I could not be more excited to begin working as a Wrangler! I am currently finishing up my first year as a student enrolled in UMW’s Natural Horsemanship program and I love it! Growing up I was referred to as “Half Horse Callie” because I galloped around on all four limbs whinnying and requesting hay for my meals. From my very first ride I have tried to soak up anything and everything I can related to teaching and training equines. I enjoy all sports and the outdoors. I have moved several times living in awesome places like Hawaii, North Carolina, Colorado and now Montana! I look forward to sharing my passion with staff, guests, and horses at Mountain Sky!
Hailing from small town Australia, I have once again traded the beaches for the mountains, spending the better part of the last two years here in Montana. I am thankful to be returning to Mountain Sky, and excited to catch up with many friends, old and new. While I do miss the surf, the coffee, and the metric system, I couldn’t be more thrilled to have a home here at Mountain Sky, and look forward to making many new memories with you all this year!
This will be my first season at Mountain Sky and I am thrilled with the opportunity. I grew up in Tennessee and studied Woodworking at Tennessee Tech University. I spent several years working within the Yellowstone Horse Department and at a cutting horse ranch in Southern Colorado. When I wasn’t out west, I worked with a group of craftsmen building timber-frame homes in Tennessee. I have been an enthusiast of western culture and history my entire life and to me, it doesn’t get any better than Montana. I look forward to riding with you and talking about all the wonders that surround us!
Hey everyone! I’ve been coming to Mountain Sky ever since I was 6 weeks old, and after falling in love with it, I wanted to spend my entire summer here. I’m from Dallas, Texas and I’m currently a junior at Texas Christian University studying business. I enjoy spending my time outside, from fishing to golfing. You might find me perfecting my craft of housekeeping or running around playing capture the flag. I can’t wait to meet all of you!
Hello everyone, this will be my second summer at Mountain Sky. I recently graduated from St. John’s University. I majored in global business and minored in communication. I grew up in Minnesota and I enjoy golfing, camping, having bonfires, taking photos, and watching the Minnesota Wild. Catch me at the pool bar, I make a mean Oreo milkshake. I look forward to meeting some new guests and seeing some familiar faces, cheers!
Hey there everybody! I’m excited to begin my first season at Mountain Sky. I recently graduated from the University of Georgia, and I’m very excited to leave the textbooks behind to start a fresh adventure in Montana. Originally from the Metro Atlanta area, this will be my first extended foray out West. It has always been a dream of mine to live on a ranch under a beautiful sky. I look forward to some hiking, fishing, riding, and time spent just enjoying the beautiful views. Feel free to come chat about anything. I’m into anything that can open my mind and widen my perspective. See you soon!
This will be my first summer at Mountain Sky, and I’m unbelievably excited! I’m currently finishing up my junior year at UW-Madison. My passion is bringing people together over food. I started a catering business, The College Cook, to bring home cooking back to busy college student. I love a good ol’ adventure, this semester I decided to leave Madison and venture out into the world in search of exotic cuisines. I worked on a farm in Thailand, cooked at an old military camp in Northern India, and spent a weekend living in a remote village in the Himalayan mountains of Nepal. While my journey abroad is almost over, my adventures stateside are about to begin! I don’t think there’s a better place to see the beauty of my own country than at Mountain Sky, I can’t wait to meet everyone this summer!
Hi Y’all! I’m originally from the Great State of Texas, but have lived in Nashville, Tennessee for the past four and a half years. This is my first season with Mountain Sky, as well as my very first time in Montana, and I could not be more excited for this new adventure! I graduated from Baylor University in 2011 and have always wanted to venture out west. I grew up in the small town of Breckenridge, Texas where I spent most of my time playing sports, and sometimes helping my dad on our cattle ranch. I love everything about the outdoors and I’m always up for a good two-step. I cannot wait to spend my days in Big Sky country with all of you!
Kids Program Manager
Hello! This will be my first season at Mountain Sky and I am thrilled to be joining the fun! I am a Wisconsin-raised Cheese head and spent my childhood growing up on a hobby farm, enjoying pets of all sizes and temperaments including goats, chickens, ducks, horses, bees, pigs, cows, and the occasional baby rabbit or bird! After graduating high school, I jetted off to the west coast to pursue my undergraduate degree in psychology at Gonzaga University. I earned my bachelors in 2013 and my passions beckoned me overseas, leading to my assignment in Senegal, West Africa, as a Peace Corp volunteer. I spent two years working in the agricultural sector in a rural village where I learned that dancing is a universal language and mothers from all backgrounds shake their heads when their children decide to slip some bathroom humor into daily conversations. After completing my service, I returned to my hometown of Hillsboro, Wisconsin, and began working as a Children’s Protective Services case manager and have been working with local families in this role for nearly two years. Cheers to a fun-filled season to come and I look forward to meeting you all
I’m originally from Michigan. I just finished my winter season in Big Sky and am excited to return to Mountain Sky for a second season. I enjoy spending my time reading, hiking, and playing the guitar. I’ve worked in a variety of kitchens and am looking forward to rejoining Chef Romans!
Hi everyone! I’m originally from Delaware and after graduating college in 2005 with a degree in Natural Resource Management, I moved out west to pursue a career in invasive plant control and habitat restoration. After working for the National Park Service for several years, and later as a noxious weed specialist for King County in Washington, I moved to emigrant about a year ago with my wife and young son. I enjoy hiking, fly fishing, and exploring this amazing area with my family. I’m excited to be part of the Mountain Sky team!
I am very eager to begin my second season at Mountain Sky! I am from a small town in Iowa and attend the University of Iowa majoring in Graphic Design and Marketing (Go Hawks). I had such a blast last summer at the ranch that I couldn’t resist coming back! Growing up, the only hiking I was able to do was through cornstalks and the flat timbers of Iowa. After living at the ranch for a summer, it is hard to compare the two. I’m looking forward growing further in the friendships I made in 2017 while gaining others throughout the way. If you ever want to go for a hike or share a cup of coffee, let me know!
Hey y’all! I am so excited to begin my first summer at Mountain Sky. I grew up at the foothills of the Appalachian mountains in North Carolina where my summers included hiking, camping, rock climbing and of course riding horses. I moved to Texas when I was 20 to pursue a job riding and training horses professionally. After falling in love with the Rocky Mountains I wound up living on the front range in beautiful Colorado and I am now headed to Montana to start my next adventure. Can’t wait to join you for a ride through Yellowstone or a dance at the saloon
I am a long-time resident of Livingston, MT who came to Mountain Sky to work on the golf course three seasons ago. I spend my winters working a Bridger Bowl Ski Resort and enjoy hunting and fly fishing. I look forward to seeing you all down at the golf course this season. Welcome to Montana!
Hey, hey, hey— Halie here! This summer will be my first summer at Mountain Sky and I am beyond excited! I am currently finishing up my sophomore year of college at the University of Wisconsin- Madison where I am majoring in Interior Architecture. I’ve never been to Montana, so this is my chance to live my wildest dreams! I’m looking forward to a new adventure and meeting everyone on the ranch! I can’t wait to see you soon!
Assistant Pastry Chef
Hello everyone. This will be my third season at Mountain Sky and I am so excited to start another great adventure. I graduated from Paul Smith’s College of the Adirondacks, with a degree in pastry arts and a minor in business. I have been working seasonal jobs since and traveling the country in the process. Some of the things I love to do are going on road trips, adventures, reading, listening to music, concerts, and spending time with family and friends.
After seasons spent helping my husband Mike Petersen (Golf Superintendent) and son Taylor Petersen (Assistant Golf Superintendent) at Rising Sun Golf Course, and seasons spent working with the office team, I’m excited to return for my eighth season, in which I’ll be helping with accounting and golf.
I’m a Livingston Montana native who has spent over two thirds of my life in restaurants. I completed my Le Cordon Blue externship here at Mountain Sky back in 2000 and knew then that my dream was to one day be the Executive Chef here. This will be my third year as the Chef here and I feel truly blessed to be a part of this whole operation. It is a pleasure getting to know as many guests as possible throughout the season.
I’ve spent around 15 years of my career working in some of the top restaurants in New York City and Nashville. I like to spend my off time working on my travel business in Spain and Italy as well as traveling the globe studying new foods and cultures. I spent this past winter in Tulum Mexico helping some friends launch a restaurant concept on the beach. If you would like to chat about food/travel or anything else I would love to lend an ear.
If you were visiting last year during the week of July 4th you may remember my heart-wrenching rendition of The Circle of Life that lead to me being crowned the WINNER of Mountain Sky’s: The Voice. But a little bit about me, I was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia and am currently studying Marketing at the University of Georgia (no really, we don’t have to talk about the national championship game). In my free time I enjoy travelling, hiking, snowboarding, and most other outdoor activities you can think of. After attending Mountain Sky as a guest for the past two years, I wanted to experience the staff side of the ranch to help share the magic of Mountain Sky with others. I hope to supply you with the same great memories that I acquired here. I can’t wait to meet all of you this summer. See you soon!
Assistant Head Wrangler
Welcome or welcome back! I grew up on San Juan Island in northwest Washington State, but now Livingston is my home base. Before Mountain Sky, I graduated from Pomona College in Southern California and after a brief stint of sitting at a desk in San Francisco, I hopped on the wrangling train. Come join me on the trail and see why I have yet to look back (this is year number seven out here for me). I’m also a proud member of the Mountain Sky Guest Ranch Fund — did you know that this ranch has given more than $4 million to non-profits that support local kids? I mean, just when you thought this place couldn’t get any better, right?
I am elated to have the opportunity to welcome you to the Mountain Sky for a third season. As an Idaho native, the pursuit of an Agricultural Business degree from Montana State University brought me to Bozeman and I have yet to find a reason to leave! I am passionate about the outdoors in just about every capacity, and especially the horses that help us explore it. I can’t wait to show you our slice of heaven and see what the big sky country is all about!
I took an Amtrak train from Minnesota to Glacier National Park six times, and surmised that I should move to Montana. After graduating from culinary school in 2000, my first job was right here at the ranch. The last five seasons I have worked two days a week as a pastry assistant, doing some prep work, baking cookies and perfecting those Sunday donuts! I have travelled to over 25 countries, the most recent being Vietnam. I love my commute, having seen moose and even a grizzly bear driving on Big Creek Road. I respect the talented and creative staff and appreciate the guests for this opportunity that exists literally under the mountain sky. Go Falcons!
Landscape and Interiors
I grew up on a ranch outside of Absarokee, Montana. I spent my summers in the saddle working on our family horse and cattle ranch and O-mok-seeing. During college I got a summer job at a guest ranch in Big Sky and ended up liking it so much that I stayed on working and commuting to finish my degree. I graduated with a degree in horticulture and landscape design from Montana State University in Bozeman. I met my husband Yancey on my first day of work at Lone Mountain Ranch and we got married six years later at my parent’s ranch in Reed Point, Montana. We have two kids, Baylor (12) and Molly (10), a golden retriever named Riley and two roaming cats, Smokey and Grey Pony. We have been at Mountain Sky since 2007 and are blessed to be a part of the Mountain Sky family. Mountain Sky has a special place in our hearts as we continue to see how much it impacts the lives of our guests and staff as well as our local communities through the giving of the MSGR Fund.
Hi everyone! I am beyond excited and very blessed to spend my first season at Mountain Sky and I can’t wait to join the team. I was born and raised in southern Indiana where I’ve spent most of my life hunting, fishing, and soaking up the great outdoors. I will be graduating next year from the University of Louisville with a degree in Marketing, and I can’t believe how fast the years have flown by. One of my strongest interests is exploring new places and meeting new people. Last Spring I traveled to Peru, South America, where I spent 10 days hiking the Lares Trail in the Andes Mountains. Not only did I love being in these mountain landscapes, I also built relationships with people from all over the world. My love for the outdoors sparks my adventures, and I can’t wait to explore and work in Montana. I look forward to hearing your story, making new friends, and spending life on the ranch together!
Dining Room Manager
I am ecstatic about joining the Mountain Sky team for my first summer! Originally from Indiana, as a teenager I traded in the cornfields for the mountains, and it was love at first sight. I’m an amateur marshmallow roaster, but enjoy a good campfire. You also might find me trying to learn some new moves on the dance floor or soaking up sunshine on the river, and I won’t turn down an opportunity to learn new things or drink a cold beer. Whether you are 4 or 94, I look forward to hearing your stories and feel blessed to be sharing this experience with you all!
Hi Y’all! I’m originally from the State of Texas, but have lived in Three Forks, Montana for the past ten years. This will be my first season with Mountain Sky Guest Ranch and West Creek Ranch. I am excited to start this new adventure! I graduated from Lubbock Christian University with a degree in Business and ended up working in the Information Technology field. My first visit to Montana sparked a desire to live in the great state of Montana and that dream soon became a reality. The place and the people make me feel like I am home in so many ways. Spend some time here and I think you might just feel the same way too! Look forward to meeting everyone!
Hey Everyone! My name is Kristin and I was born and raised in Central PA! I grew up immersed in nature, so I am ecstatic to be in Montana, the mecca of the outdoor experience! I graduated from Lock Haven University with a degree in Secondary Education English and in the past year of my life I have been all over! I was a teacher in PA, I worked as an assistant in Florida and Texas, I spent some time in Hawaii, and now I`m so fortunate to be a member of the Mountain Sky team! Living and working in Montana has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl so if you ever want to ogle over the awesomeness of Montana, or if you need a hiking or river swimming buddy, I`m your girl! I can`t wait to meet you and your family and spend time with you at Mountain Sky!
Land and Livestock Manager
I grew up about an hour away in Big Timber, Montana. I love Montana and the western lifestyle and all it has to offer. I live at the lower ranch where I spend most of my time working. I take care of the agriculture side of Mountain Sky so I work mostly with the cows, irrigation, haying and fencing. I will have the team hitched and ready for a hayride on Wednesday nights at dinner ride which is right out my back door. If you are interested in chasing cows I will take you out and show you how it’s done.
Guest Services Intern
Hi everyone! This is my second summer officially working here at Mountain Sky, although I have been coming to the ranch since I was in the womb! I am from Atlanta, Georgia, and while I qualify as a city girl, my heart is in Montana. I am just now finishing up a semester abroad in Rome, Italy where I couldn’t be happier. While abroad, I had the pleasure of doing a hospitality management internship at a hotel in Tuscany, which I later hope to purse as my major in college. Come find me at dance night to learn some new moves, or at the bar to chat. I will never get tired of talking, especially about the ranch! I am looking forward to getting to know all of you better, and ensuring that your experience is as wonderful as mine has always been.
Hello, everyone! I am more than excited to be joining the team for my first summer at Mountain Sky Guest Ranch! I was born and raised in the wonderful Northern Maine woods, surrounded by miles of wilderness. I’m heading into my Senior year at the University of Maine at Farmington where I am studying environmental policy and planning. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, traveling, yoga, playing guitar, and mostly anything that has to do with being outside! Let the marvelous adventure of this summer begin- can’t wait to meet you all!
Sales & Marketing
Hello, all! I fell in love with Montana within days of arriving and I’m looking forward to my sixth season here at the ranch. While the seacoast of New Hampshire will always by my home, I recently made the move to Montana official and purchased a little bungalow in Livingston. In between house projects, I can often be found floating the Yellowstone or frolicking through the stunning Montana wildflowers. I love live music, traveling, and a good cup of coffee. Cheers!
I’m thrilled to be returning for my second season with everyone at Mountain Sky! I grew up in Paradise Valley and still live in the surrounding area. I come from a fourth-generation cattle ranching family and have lived and worked with livestock my whole life. I enjoy riding and training horses, as well as participating in the haying and farming operations, at my family’s ranch. In May I graduated from Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming, with an associate degree in applied science in welding technology. I look forward to seeing you all on the trail!
Marty Metzler IV
Hello Again! This will be my second season with Mountain Sky and I couldn’t be more excited to be back out here. I am from Green Bay, Wisconsin so as far as stereotypes go, yes I love cheese and The Green Bay Packers. I attended college at Purdue University and in Madison, WI studying both Criminal Justice and Psychology. I’ve played multiple sports through my life with special interests in golf and soccer. I am looking forward to this season at Mountain Sky and can’t wait to meet all the new guests and staff, in addition to catching up with everyone returning that I have met in the past! Rise Up, and Go Pack Go.
I’m excited to begin my first season at Mountain Sky! Originally from Illinois, this spring I will be graduating from Luther College in Iowa with a major in history and minors in English and Theatre. I am looking forward to starting a new adventure in Paradise Valley.
I came to the ranch to direct the construction of Rising Sun Golf Course. I have 20-plus years of experience in the golf business as a superintendent including the construction and maintenance of four Johnny Miller Design courses. My wife Jodi Petersen (Accounting) and son Taylor Petersen (Assistant Golf Superintendent) have also joined me here, and we all look forward to giving you a truly memorable golf experience during your visit to the ranch.
Guest Services and Bartender
This is my second summer at the ranch and I’m more than excited to be onboard! I am from Newnan, Georgia and I recently graduated from Auburn University. I enjoy being outdoors, exercise, and traveling, and anything music-related. If you need someone to join you on a hike or to talk concerts with, I’m your girl! Can’t wait to meet y’all!
Hey everyone! This will be my first summer in Montana and I’m so excited for the opportunity to wander the mountains with you all! I’m a Wisconsinite through and through; was born and raised in Green Bay (…so if you ever need cheese or Spotted Cow, look no further. I got you.), where I grew up enjoying family time at the cottage, fishing, boating and snowmobiling. I am a recent graduate of the University of St. Thomas (MN) where I earned a degree in psychology and family studies. I am so looking forward to meeting all of you, being a member of the Mountain Sky family and seeing what Montana has to offer. And as always, Go Pack Go!
Hey there! Originally from a small town outside of San Francisco, I am currently a student at Montana State University studying Wildlife Ecology. During the winters I spend most of my free time skiing at Bridger Bowl! When the snow melts, my favorite things to do are hiking, camping, floating the Yellowstone River and slack-lining. I could not be more excited to call Mountain Sky home for a second summer, surrounded by the best people and beautiful mountains!!!
Landscaper and Photographer
My seventh season at Mountain Sky! How did that happen? Leaving this all behind is apparently the ONLY skill I haven’t learned in my years here. I love having my hands all over the ranch; I’ll be cooking at Breakfast Ride for you on Tuesdays during the summer, maintaining our beautiful landscape, and covertly snapping your picture whenever I see that inevitable smile. I grew up in Stockton, Illinois, a tiny town in the northwestern part of the state. I went to school at NIU for a photography and ceramic degree, and during the summers I headed west and worked in Yellowstone National Park for a few years. Needless to say, I did not (or could not) stray too far. In my free time, I look forward to some hiking, climbing, and sleeping somewhere under the stars. Can’t wait to see you!
I am looking forward to my eleventh summer at Mountain Sky. I spend much of my time here making sense out of numbers and helping a bit with computers. I feel truly blessed to be able to work and live in such a beautiful place! My home is in Livingston, and I absolutely love it there. When I am not working, I enjoy singing, gardening, biking, hiking, cross country skiing, and spending time with family and friends.
Spa & Wellness Director
It is an honor and a joy to be returning to Mountain Sky after several off and on seasons over many years . My new position as Wellness Director will definitely keep me in the “on” position for quite some time. Pulling together the details of expanding the ranch amenities this winter and spring has called upon all 38 years of my experience in health, wellness, yoga, business, and design skills. Working together with the Mountain Sky family makes it all a wild and wonderful adventure. We are so excited to share it all with you. As a resident of Bozeman since 1983, I look forward to spending half of my year in the splendor of Big Creek Canyon and the surrounding wilderness. And of course, I am thrilled to introduce you to our new wellness menu of delightful treatments and activities, in our lodge, in the new yoga studio and in the great outdoors. I look forward to helping you to feel good, have fun and be well.
I graduated from Christopher Newport University, where I played field hockey and lacrosse while earning my degree in communication studies and minoring in studio art. I’m a little nomadic in nature: after studying in Spain and exploring Europe, I since have traveled to 29 different countries. Some of the highlights from these past few years include volunteering at an elephant village in Thailand, receiving my open water diving certification, taking an ultralight flight over the Himalayas, participating in an 11 day Vipanassana silent meditation in Nepal, completing the 500 mile walk of the Camino de Santiago, and living at an ashram in the Himalayas where I pursued one of my passions, yoga, and received my TTC in India. I have lived and worked at a yoga center in the Bahamas as well as a yoga center in Quebec, Canada. Last spring I traveled in Peru where I also received another 200 hour TTC and this year I am just returning from a 100 hour meditation training in India. I am BEYOND excited to return to Mountain Sky! Of course, there’s so much more to tell, so if you love talking about wellness, adventure, or travel, or anything really—come find me. I’d be thrilled to chat and hear about your experiences too! I look forward to seeing all those familiar faces of families and friends, as well as meeting all the newcomers to the ranch! Can’t wait to see you all in our brand new and beautiful Wellness Lodge and for some yoga and meditation sessions!!
Hey! I’m a California native but have spent the passed few years traveling the world. Some highlights of this last trip were hiking to Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal, getting yoga teacher certified in India, and scuba diving with whale sharks in Australia. I’m passionate about conservation and our National Parks, I had the privilege of working as a naturalist guide in Sequoia. I’m so excited to be back in beautiful Montana after spending some time in Glacier, and I am ready for another summer of adventure!
Kids Program Assistant Manager
Hello there! This will be my first season at Mountain Sky and I could not be more excited! Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, I ventured to the eastern part of Washington to attend school at Washington State University where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Naturally, I am a diehard Cougs fan! I have been a preschool teacher for the past 3 years and decided to take a break from the classroom to see all that Montana has to offer. I love the outdoors and when I’m not in a classroom or outside, you can find me skating on a flat track playing roller derby. I can’t wait to meet everyone and create some lasting memories!
I grew up in the great state of New Jersey (no apology necessary). Even living next to New York didn’t stop me from falling in love with the outdoors. I’ve spent every single one of my summers camping, hiking, fishing, and swimming in the Adirondacks, and can’t wait to try all of those things out in stunning Montana. I’m currently a freshman at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire as a pre-med student, and can’t wait to take a break from my studies to spend my summer with you all. If you’re looking to go for a run, take a dip, or just hang out, come find me! I can’t wait to help make Mountain Sky feel like home for all of you
Dining Room Assistant Manager
This is my first summer at the ranch and I’m so excited for a new adventure at Mountain Sky! I grew up in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, where I developed my love for getting outside and exploring new places. New opportunities took me abroad to a university in Switzerland, and after four years I graduated with a double major in International Economics and International Relations. One thing I’ve learned is that the best part of traveling is all of the interesting people you get to know. When I’m not in the dining room, you’ll probably find me hiking, reading a book, or just enjoying the amazing scenery. I’m really looking forward to becoming better acquainted with Montana and meeting all of you!
This is my 27th season at Mountain Sky, and I still love it. I am partly responsible for all the sweets, granola, breads and other treats you eat here. My assistant is Jessica Nelson, and we are excited to have her here. In the summer when I am not working, I love to hike, bike and garden. My husband Turk and I grow most of our own food. Join me on the “All Day Hike” on Thursday.
This will be season number seven for me at the ranch. Originally from Minnesota, I’m lucky enough to be able call Mountain Sky my year-round home. I spent most of the winter traveling around New Zealand hiking, camping, and enjoying the beaches. I’ll be spending my weekends backpacking in the area, floating the Yellowstone, and catching as many World Cup matches as possible. Looking forward to another incredible year here!
Grounds & Maintenance
Hello Hello! I’m super excited to experience my first season at Mountain Sky! This will mark my first visit to Montana, and I’m more than ready to soak in the incredible views Paradise Valley has to offer. I hope to brush up my golf skills, pick up fly fishing as a hobby, jam on the guitar with other musicians, and camp under the stars! Born and raised in upstate New York, I’ve grown an immense appreciation and love for nature; I’m lucky enough to have had numerous opportunities to fish, hike, kayak, camp, and photograph the wide variety of landscapes of the Northeast. I’m ecstatic to start this next chapter of my life, and can’t wait to experience it with all of you!
This will be my 13th summer as facilities manager on the ranch. It has been fun and rewarding to make lasting improvements that are appreciated. I’m looking forward to seeing some new country this summer. You can, too.
This will be my fifth summer at Mountain Sky, and I am thrilled to be returning! I enjoy dabbling in board games, birding, and making good food. I am looking forward to working alongside Chef Romans to create some wonderful dishes for you this season. I hope you enjoy them!

Hello all! Born and raised in this beautiful state, I grew up in Great Falls but call Bozeman home now. Montana is in my blood and the mountains and rivers here are my playground. I am an avid hunter and fisherman, and I enjoy camping, backpacking, and riding horses. This will be my fourth summer at Mountain Sky, and I am very excited for this adventure and to meet all of you!
I was raised in Indiana, and graduated last May from the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying biomedical engineering. I’m currently in the throes of a HIGHLY stressful gap year of hiking, camping, traveling, and spending time with the great people of Mountain Sky before I head to medical school in the fall. This will be my second summer at Mountain Sky, so I can’t wait to see all your friendly and familiar faces! I absolutely love the Midwest, but I’m thrilled to be out in Montana for the rest of the year working in one of the most spectacular areas of our country. Most of my hobbies involve being outdoors (mountain biking, hiking, running, etc.), so I couldn’t be more excited to take advantage of everything Paradise Valley has to offer. If you ever need a hiking or running buddy or someone to just plain act a fool with on the dance floor, I’m more than happy to join ya! Cannot wait to meet everyone and serve the awesome guests of Mountain Sky.
This will be my second summer at Mountain Sky and my seventh year guiding within the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. I could not be more excited to be back! Over the past ten years I have been lucky enough to work on working cattle and bison ranches, guest ranches, and horse packing outfits in five different states across the Rocky Mountain West. When I’m not guiding in the mountains, I have another life as a disease ecologist and anthropologist in graduate school at CU Boulder. I’m looking forward to sharing this incredible area with all of you again this year!
Although this will be my first summer working at Mountain Sky, this will be my fourth in the beautiful state of Montana! I came to this amazing state from the Bay Area of California where I grew up ranching and riding while helping out with our family cattle operation. I am currently heading into my final year at Montana State University in Bozeman studying Agricultural Business but I have no plans on leaving! If I am not out working cattle you could probably find me on a river bank fishing or in the swamp hunting ducks with my bird dog. I am looking forward to an incredible summer and I can’t wait to meet all of you!
Hey y’all! I was born and raised in Suwanee, Georgia. I attended college at Mississippi State University and within weeks of graduation, packed up and moved across the country to Montana. I may be a southern girl, but the mountains have my heart! I have been in Montana for two years now, and this will be my first summer at Mountain Sky. I rode a horse for the very first time on my 7th birthday and never looked back. My happy place is in the saddle, and I can’t wait to share the beautiful Montana backcountry with you!
Housekeeping Assistant Manager
Hey there! I am a Colorado native with an adventure seeking spirit, a heartfelt connection with nature, and a true passion for wildlife. Growing up traveling, I’ve always loved to explore new places and I am very excited to be spending my summer in the beautiful wilderness of Montana for the first time. I’ve come to the proud realization that wildlife conservation is my life’s purpose and my work has taken me all over the world gaining valuable knowledge and experience. But when I’m not rehabilitating titi monkeys or saving sea turtle hatchlings, I seek seasonal opportunities such as this to utilize my other talents! So if you see me around the ranch hiking, reading in my hammock or cleaning your room, feel free to say hi and maybe we can swap stories sometime and get to enjoy this amazing place together!
Hey everyone! This will be my second summer at the ranch and I’m extremely excited to meet all of you. I grew up in Minnesota, and am currently finishing up my senior year at St. John’s University in central Minnesota. I love to spend my time fishing, hunting, camping, or drinking a beer around the fire with friends. Living in Montana has been a dream of mine for a long time, and I can’t wait for the adventures the summer will bring.
I grew up in the beautiful Roaring Fork Valley in colorful Colorado. I absolutely love the outdoors and any activity that brings me outside. Activities such as fishing, horseback riding, yoga and hiking are some of my favorites. I can’t wait to explore beautiful Montana and everything it has to offer! Looking forward to a amazing summer! See you soon!
New Hampshire native and 2018 University of New Hampshire grad, this will be my first time in Montana and it’s a dream come true for me! I’ve done quite a bit of traveling, mostly in Europe, so I am looking forward to learning what Montana’s all about. I grew up playing sports (basketball, softball and soccer), I love being outside; hiking, fishing, kayaking, etc., I’m constantly listening to music of all kinds, and I love exploring new places and meeting new people. I’m wicked excited to have a fun summer with you all!
Growing up in Steamboat Springs Colorado, I have always been a very active person, from golf to hockey and of course fishing—I love it all! Combine that with my love for the outdoors and my passion for food and hospitality, Mountain Sky Ranch seems like a home away from home. This will be my first season attending the ranch and I cannot wait to share the adventure with all of you.
Originally from Vermont, this will be my first season at Mountain Sky. When not working in the kitchen, I love spending my time outdoors. I am looking forward to meeting all the folks at Mountain Sky this summer!
This is my 20th season at Mountain Sky! My husband and I recently started our own cattle and hay operation in Wilsall, northeast of Livingston in the Crazy Mountains. I coordinate the community giving for the ranch and enjoy working with our non-profit partners. You can learn more about our partnerships in the community in your in-room packet.
This is my first summer at the ranch and I am so exited to be joining this amazing team! A Coloradan, born and bread, I love everything outdoors and I can’t wait to get at those Montana hiking trails! I am a student at Colorado State University where I actively participate in the Theater department and I have a special love for improvisation. I can’t wait to get my hands dirty and really see what Mountain Sky has to offer and look forward to meeting all of you!
Hey there. I’m originally from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina but currently live in Columbia where I recently graduated from the University of South Carolina. Being from the east coast, it’s always been a dream of mine to travel out west and experience all that it has to offer. This will be my first summer in Montana, which I’m told still has snow on the ground in April and, being that I’ve seen snow four times in my entire life, I’m pretty excited about that. I’m thrilled for this summer and can’t wait to get to know all of you!
Assistant Golf Superintendent
I work down at the golf course, spending quality time with my Dad Mike Petersen (Golf Superintendent). This is my eighth season at Mountain Sky, and it has been such a wonderful experience. I hope you will come down and visit us!
Welcome to Mountain Sky! I’m thrilled to be returning for another season of great rides, stunning scenery, and amazing food. I’m looking forward to seeing all the returning staff and guests who’ve also become my friends. As well, I’m excited to meet some new guests and “wow” them with the beauty of this place I call home.
I am thrilled to be back for my second summer at Mountain Sky Guest Ranch! I grew up surrounded by the lakes and forests of rural Maine, so I have a real soft spot for the outdoors. When not in class at the University of Maine I enjoy doing any activity there is, whether being a wilderness backpacking journey or a nice board game by the fire. I’ll always be around to help in any way as you and your family have the experience of a lifetime. Also, if you’re looking to learn how to enjoy a lobster like a Mainer then I’m your guy!
Challenge Course & Basecamp Manager
This is my fourth summer working for Mountain Sky and the Blank Family Foundation. Raised in Flagstaff, Arizona, I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a BS in elementary education and a strong desire to experience the ski-bum lifestyle. That desire took me all over the Southwest for five years until I landed here in Montana. I knew immediately I had found somewhere I could call home. During those adventures, I discovered the challenge course industry, which fulfilled my desire to learn and teach through experiential education. In my off-time, you may run into me riding my mountain bike, climbing, or fishing. I am always up for an adventure and love to travel and spend time with friends new and old. I look forward to this summer being the best yet, and hope to see you down at the Big Creek Challenge Course!
Lands & Wildlife
I have been fortunate to work with the Mountain Sky crew to make our ranch operations “best in class” – for the land, wildlife, and the people. I also work in the larger community with ranchers and other residents tackling some of the region’s larger issues like water, access to public lands, and wildlife management. If you have any questions about natural history, land management, or anything outdoors, I’m here to help.
