On behalf of the entire Blank family, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Mountain Sky. This year marks the 21st consecutive summer that our family has spent at the ranch, and we look forward to connecting with old friends and getting to know new ones. We hope that you have a chance to meet and get to know some of our family members during your stay – this is a place where new friendships begin each and every year. We hope you will enjoy your time here as much as we do. We feel strongly that there is no better place to reconnect with nature and spend quality time with the most important people in our lives.
My Mountain Sky career began as a dishwasher back in 2001, and numerous attempts to find another career always landed me back in this beautiful place. One of my adventures led me to meet and eventually marry the love of my life – Stacy – and when our busy schedules align, we enjoy hiking, fly-fishing, and enjoying the views from our porch in Bozeman. This winter, Stacy and I enjoyed a whirlwind trip to Europe. Using Brussels as home base, we were able to visit Bruges, Amsterdam, Paris and Florence in just 12 crazy days… and Belgium waffles are now officially my favorite food. On behalf of the entire crew, welcome home! We can’t wait to share this place with you.
AMB West General Manager
I was raised in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, where my parents were co-owners and operators of several restaurants. I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in finance. After graduation I decided to spend a summer in Big Sky, Montana. I met my wife Kelly at a ranch and soon figured out that guest ranching was a perfect career fit for me. Our son Baylor is 14 years old and he looks forward to dodgeball, Splashball, and milkshakes by the pool all year long. We also have a daughter, Molly, who is 12. Molly is a horse lover so you may see her at the barn. As an outdoor enthusiast, I love all the recreational opportunities that Montana has to offer. I am so blessed to be able to share this enthusiasm with the folks who come here to experience the outdoors. Enjoy your time in Montana!
Namaste everybody! This is my first season at Mountain Sky and I am so delighted to be facilitating relaxation, rejuvenation, and restoration through massage and body therapies at the wellness lodge. I recently moved up to the Mountain Sky neighborhood from the Tetons where I practiced massage and yoga along with a bit of firefighting and nordic ski guiding in Grand Teton National Park. I spent over a decade traveling around the world, studying and teaching thai massage, herbal medicine making, yoga, and meditation. It’s a beautiful world we live in, and I feel so grateful to share this wild wonderous corner of it with you this season!
I’ve been at the ranch for many years and reside at the lower ranch with my wife Jolene and our five children, Makaila, Caleb, Natalia, Josiah and Ethan. I look forward to meeting all of you, as it will be my task to find you the perfect four-legged friend for the week!
Sales and Reservations
As a senior at Arcadia University, I found myself procrastinating my senior thesis by googling the words “fun jobs”. After some quick scrolling, I found the link to Mountain Sky Guest Ranch and my life would never be the same. What was originally intended as a six month post grad position is now coming up on year six in Big Sky Country. Starting with the teen program and guest services for three years, I switched hats with two years in the housekeeping department. When presented with the opportunity to switch hats once again this year into the full time office world, I jumped at the chance to experience the ranch through yet another lens. I could not be more excited to be in a role that affords me a better opportunity to spend quality time with our guests. You can find my favorite Australian, Cam, or myself at the front desk for any of your needs during your stay. I look forward to another season of two stepping, sharing cocktails in the saloon, and exploring the vast Greater Yellowstone region hiking trails.
This will be my first summer working at Mountain Sky, but my 22nd summer in Montana. I grew up in Western Montana, and am thrilled for the opportunity to spend this summer in the Paradise Valley! With my time at the ranch, I look forward to celebrating Montana’s recreational opportunities and beauty with our guests every day!
Besides being a bit older and balder, my old business card still describes my talents pretty well: Cowboy, packer and hunting guide extraordinaire • Horses and mules bought and sold, trained and traded • Wild cattle caught • Elvis songs listened to over and over again • Dogs trained • Wild cats captured • Saloons emptied • Marmot hunts organized • Line dancers tortured • Wilderness exploration • Multiple attempts at understanding the female mind undertaken and failed. I look forward to seeing you all at the golf course and clay shooting!
Hi everyone! I’m so excited to say this will be my first summer with Mountain Sky Guest Ranch. I can’t wait to meet all of you. I’m from McDonough, GA, and I will be graduating from the University of Georgia in May. Go Dawgs! This will be my first time out west, and I can’t wait to explore all that Montana has to offer. I love hanging out with my family and friends and creating memories with them. I love taking on new adventures as recently I went skydiving. I also love sports as I have played soccer all my life and have a competitive nature inside of me. I can’t wait to spend my days horseback riding, hiking, and exploring the ranch. I hope to make your family’s experience at the ranch one to remember. Bring on summer 2019!
Hi everyone! I just graduated Black Hawk College majoring in Equestrian Science and Horse Science Technology. I may have came from northern Indiana but I am beyond excited to spend my first summer in Montana here at Mountain Sky! With a past of training roping horses, cutters, and breaking colts I am excited to get outside of the arena and ride in Big Sky country. I love to snowboard in the winter and ride horses all summer.
Hailing from small town Australia, I have traded the beaches for the mountains, spending the better part of the last few years here in Montana. Having held a number of positions throughout my tenure at the ranch, you can now find me occupying the front desk with my favorite east-coaster, Adam Stefanik. I am thankful to be returning to Mountain Sky, and excited to catch up with many friends, old and new. While I do miss the surf, the coffee, and the metric system, I couldn’t be more thrilled to have a home here at Mountain Sky, and look forward to making new memories with you all this year—stop by for a chat or challenge me to a game of chess or two!
I have been coming to the ranch ever since I was eight. This summer, as a 20 year old, I’ll be here for the first time as a worker. I’m beyond excited to spend my free time hiking the Greater Yellowstone Area or playing the golf course, and I’m just as excited to meet the guests. If you’re a huge sports fan, come argue with me about why I think my hometown Lakers could form the next superteam, or to chat just about anything sports related. I’m from Pasadena, CA, so living in the woods for a summer will definitely be a change of pace, but I look forward to something new before I start my sophomore year at Washington and Lee in Lexington, Va.
Hey everyone! This is going to be my first summer at Mountain Sky! I am from Salt Lake City, Utah and am currently finishing up my second year at the University of Utah. This will not be my first time out of the city! I have spent my last four summers working on a few different hay ranches and fell in love with the work! My hobbies include anything outdoors and working on cars. I am excited to be a part of the team!
Hi there! this is my first season at Mountain Sky. As the Technical Analyst, I’ll be wrangling all things computer related (not the horses). Looking forward to meeting you all!
Hi everyone! I’m so excited to spend my first Montana summer with you at Mountain Sky! After graduating from Saint Olaf College in 2016, I moved back to my home state of Maine and worked as a personal trainer. I’ve had the privilege of living and working in a beautiful state, but my love for the outdoors and all active forms of recreation led me to apply to Mountain Sky for my next adventure. I can’t wait to experience the Montana outdoors, and I’m pumped to work with a great team! I enjoy any outdoor activity; fishing, hiking, camping, and I love playing any sport. I’m excited to experience an incredible summer with all of you!
Hi everyone! I grew up on our family farm near the small town of Powhattan, Kansas. We raise corn, soybeans, hay, and Angus cattle! I will be graduating from Southeast Community College located in Beatrice, Nebraska in June with my Associates of Applied Science in Agriculture Management and Production, with a focus in Agribusiness and Livestock. I also received my Precision Ag Certificate and was Student of the Month in April, 2018 at SCC. I have always loved going camping and traveling, so a guest ranch was never too far out of my mind, as it is a perfect combination of people and agriculture. I look forward to making many new friends and memories and am beyond excited to spend my first summer in Montana at Mountain Sky!
Hey everyone! I am so excited to be venturing out to Montana for my first summer on staff at Mountain Sky! I am from Florence, Alabama and recently graduated from Auburn University. While I love the south and proudly claim it as home, I have always had a deep appreciation for the mountains and the wide open spaces that the west has to offer. Adventuring is one of my favorite pastimes, but I also enjoy a day spent with a good book and a cup of coffee. I am so grateful to be spending the summer in big sky country and look forward to meeting you all at the ranch!
Hi everyone! I’m originally from Delaware and after graduating college in 2005 with a degree in Natural Resource Management, I moved out west to pursue a career in invasive plant control and habitat restoration. After working for the National Park Service for several years, and later as a noxious weed specialist for King County in Washington, I moved to emigrant about a year ago with my wife and young son. I enjoy hiking, fly fishing, and exploring this amazing area with my family. I’m excited to be part of the Mountain Sky team!
I grew up on the eastern end of Long Island, New York spending my summers along the Atlantic Ocean. My academic life took me to upstate New York, where I graduated with a degree in Environmental Geography from Colgate University. My first career was in the organic food industry which has taken me from the urban jungle of New York City, to an organic farm on the US Virgin Islands, and finally to the beaches of San Diego. I have called Bozeman, Montana my home for the past four years, where I have rooted down and started my second career as a licensed massage therapist. I’m excited to join the team at Mountain Sky and massage our guests in the beautiful backdrop of the Paradise Valley this summer!
I am very excited to be spending my second summer at Mountain Sky with all of you! I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and lived there my entire life. I am pursuing a biology degree at Carlow University and am passionate for the outdoors, wildlife, and am a fantastic fly-fisherman. I am also physically active and run a lot, as I am part of the Carlow University track and cross country teams. I enjoy playing basketball and am very competitive. I can’t wait to spend another summer in Montana!
Hey guys! This will be my first season at Mountain Sky Guest Ranch and I couldn’t be more excited. I grew up in a small town in central Illinois but I’ve been all over lately. I worked on a ranch in north Texas last summer and am currently a junior majoring in animal science at Oklahoma State University (go pokes!). I have been riding horses and barrel racing all my life, and I am always up for an adventure. I may come from the flatland midwest, but I love the mountains and I am excited to hike, ride, and explore Montana with each of you!
I am a long-time resident of Livingston, MT who came to Mountain Sky to work on the golf course three seasons ago. I spend my winters working a Bridger Bowl Ski Resort and enjoy hunting and fly fishing. I look forward to seeing you all down at the golf course this season. Welcome to Montana!
Hey, hey, hey— Halie here! This summer will be my second summer at Mountain Sky and I am beyond excited! I am currently finishing up my junior year of college at the University of Wisconsin- Madison where I am majoring in Interior Architecture. I’ve excited to be back in Montana to live my wildest dreams! I’m looking forward to another adventure and meeting everyone on the ranch! I can’t wait to see you soon!
Many girls go through a horse phase and I just got lucky and didn’t have to grow out of it. That’s what I tell people when they ask me how I got the position as a wrangler. After graduating from high school I was looking for a job I would enjoy; a friend of mine posted a picture of her mustang running through the mountain snow and I wanted to be part of that scene. So I applied to work at the dude ranch where she was living. I got the job and haven’t been able to stay away from the Rocky Mountains and ranch life for long. Since then I’ve worked on a few ranches in Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana, using my off time traveling and spending seasons at my hometown in upstate New York. There is something special about the western culture, those mountain views, and the horses you ride. I’m glad I get to meet guests from many different places and share the joys of horseback riding in their ranch vacation setting.
Not only will this be my first summer on the ranch, but this will be my first time in Montana and I could not be more excited. I just graduated from the University of Georgia with a major in Entertainment Media Studies and a minor in film. I was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia and have lived in Georgia all my life. In my spare time I love to go to the gym, read, watch movies, and play drums. I am beyond excited to spend my summer on the ranch and can’t wait to meet you all!
Grounds & Maintenance
Hey y’all! This will be my first year at the ranch and I can’t wait to get started. I grew up in the small town of Bessemer, Pennsylvania about an hour north of Pittsburgh. Growing up in Western PA exposed me to the outdoors and I have been in love ever since. In my free time, you’ll find me hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, and anything else outdoors! I’m currently working on finishing my bachelor’s in Environmental Studies and Sustainability at Slippery Rock University. I am looking forward to meeting everyone this summer and enjoying the beauty of Montana!
Hi all! I am from the Bitterroot Valley south of Missoula, Montana. My sister and I started riding when we were very young, and through high school I participated in endurance riding. My production agriculture experience also began then through our local FFA chapter. I have recently graduated from Montana State University with a degree in Natural Resource Management and Rangeland Ecology. I am interested in grazing systems and their interactions with wildlife. While at Montana State University I worked on an experiment station as a ranch hand. I am looking forward to broadening my knowledge in production agriculture and meeting you all!
I’m beyond excited to begin my first season at Mountain Sky as a wrangler! I’m a longtime horse gal and long-distance hiker. Seems it’s always about a trail of some sort! Being one of the more “seasoned” new hires, my horse background includes eventing and dressage as a professional trainer, breeder and judge, but after horse-packing the Bob Marshall Wilderness in 1990, I fell in love with the West and Dorrance-style natural horsemanship, blending the two styles to good effect. After caring for ailing parents, I took time off from horses to thru-hike both Vermont’s Long Trail (writing a book about it, “The Ordinary Adventurer”) and the 2,172.6-mile (but who’s counting?) Appalachian Trail, then helped form a community fresh produce Co-op for family farmers. Back in the saddle again, I also like to paint, kayak, write, travel, garden, camp and dance. I look forward to meeting new friends from all over and sharing my enthusiasm for horses and this stunning part of the world!
Hey guys! This is my second season at Mountain Sky and I can not wait to get back out west! I am originally from Huntsville, Alabama and just recently graduated from Birmingham Southern College with a degree in Business Administration. I couldn’t think of any better way to celebrate my graduation than to head back out to Montana and take in the beautiful scenery. During my free time you can find me camping or attempting to improve my helpless golf game. I look forward to meeting you all in the coming months!
Assistant Pastry Chef/Am Lead Cook
Hello everyone. This will be my fourth season at Mountain Sky and I am so excited to start another great adventure. I graduated from Paul Smith’s College of the Adirondacks, with a degree in pastry arts and a minor in business. I have been working seasonal jobs since and traveling the country in the process. Some of the things I love to do are going on road trips, adventures, reading, listening to music, concerts, and spending time with family and friends.
Accounting & Retail Buyer
After spending the last few years working in the Accounting Department and helping my husband Mike Petersen (Golf Superintendent) and son Taylor Petersen (Assistant Golf Superintendent) at the Rising Sun Golf Course, I am thrilled to be making my return to the retail side of Mountain Sky! I enjoyed spending the winter rounding up lots of new locally made gifts, organic body products, apparel and accessories for our Gift Shop, as well as yummy food and gear you may need for the trail. Mike and I raised 3 beautiful kids in Utah before heading North to help build and operate Mountain Sky’s course. Please stop in the Gift Shop and say hi!
I completed my Le Cordon Blue externship here at Mountain Sky back in 2000 and knew then that my dream was to one day be the Executive Chef here. This will be my fourth year as the Chef here and I feel truly blessed to be a part of the team. It’s a pleasure getting to know as many guests as possible throughout the season. I was born and raised in Livingston right down the road and have had the opportunity to travel the world studying food and food culture. It has always been my belief that food is what can bring us all together as a humans. Before coming to the ranch I was part owner of a very busy restaurant in NYC but yearned for the life that Montana has to offer so I made the move back home. I spent this past off season studying Plant Based Cuisine in Thailand, some nice vacation time in Cuba, and the rest of the winter loving life in Mexico with my Fiance Yuli (you’ll get to meet her soon enough.) Looking forward to catching up with all of you soon!
At this point in time, people seem to have forgotten that in 2017 I was crowned as the WINNER of Mountain Sky’s: The Voice, thanks to my heart-wrenching rendition of The Circle of Life. But life goes on. I’m better known now for my more recent lead roles with the Mountain Sky Splashball League/Acting Troupe. A little bit about me, I was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia and am currently studying Marketing at the University of Georgia, Go Dawgs! I expect to graduate at the end of this upcoming Fall. In my free time I enjoy travelling, hiking, and snowboarding (when I can get out of Georgia that is). After attending Mountain Sky as a guest for two years, I wanted to experience the staff side of the ranch. Working here last year allowed me to see behind the scenes of creating the amazing experiences that come with a week at Mountain Sky. I’m so excited to come back for my second summer with you all. I hope to supply you with the same great experiences that I acquired here when I was a guest. Can’t wait to meet you this summer!
Assistant Head Wrangler
Welcome or welcome back! I grew up on San Juan Island in northwest Washington State, but now Livingston is my home base. Before Mountain Sky, I graduated from Pomona College in Southern California and after a brief stint of sitting at a desk in San Francisco, I hopped on the wrangling train. Come join me on the trail and see why I have yet to look back (this is year number eight out here for me). I’m also a proud member of the Mountain Sky Guest Ranch Fund — did you know that this ranch has given more than $4 million to non-profits that support local kids? I mean, just when you thought this place couldn’t get any better, right?
Hello there! This summer is my first at Mountain Sky Guest Ranch and I cannot be more excited for this new adventure in Montana! I am originally from Utah and am currently perusing a degree in Asian studies and Ethnic Studies, and a minor in Music at the University of Utah. On my down time, I really enjoy going on day hikes, water-color painting, and just chillin’. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and to see what new experiences and opportunities this summer in Montana will bring!
I am elated to have the opportunity to welcome you to Mountain Sky for a fourth season. As an Idaho native, the pursuit of a business marketing degree from Montana State University brought me to Bozeman, and I have yet to find a reason to leave! I am passionate about the outdoors in just about every capacity, and especially the horses that help us explore it. I can’t wait to show you our slice of heaven and see what Big Sky Country is all about!
I took an Amtrak train from Minnesota to Glacier National Park six times, and surmised that I should move to Montana. After graduating from culinary school in 2000, my first job was right here at the ranch. The last five seasons I have worked two days a week as a pastry assistant, doing some prep work, baking cookies and perfecting those Sunday donuts! I have travelled to over 25 countries, the most recent being Vietnam. I love my commute, having seen moose and even a grizzly bear driving on Big Creek Road. I respect the talented and creative staff and appreciate the guests for this opportunity that exists literally under the mountain sky. Go Falcons!
Assistant Wellness Director
Hi, everyone! This will be my first full season at the Ranch and I can’t wait to experience Montana’s spring and summer seasons! I ventured out here from Baltimore, Maryland, where I was born and raised. After graduating from Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!), I worked in marketing for consulting, engineering and architecture firms. I’ve always wanted to come out West and experience the magic of Montana and have found myself at home in the Wellness Center. During your stay, you’ll find me helping keep the Wellness Center and programming running. We have a stellar team ready and excited to help you relax and rejuvenate!
Landscape and Interiors
My first experience at Mountain Sky was in 2005 when my husband Yancey & I stayed the night in the Pony cabin while attending the Montana Dude Rancher’s Association state meeting. At the time we were operating Lone Mountain Ranch in Big Sky and we were immediately captivated by Mountain Sky’s quiet mountain setting and beautiful historic lodge and cabins. Growing up on a horse and cattle ranch outside of Absarokee, Montana, it really felt like home to me. After an adventure up North running a private ranch, we found our way back to Mountain Sky in 2007 to do what we really love: create and share a world-class guest ranch retreat. Our kids, Baylor (14) and Molly (12), attend school in Gardiner at the North Entrance to Yellowstone National Park. Mountain Sky has a special place in our hearts as we continue to see how much it impacts the lives of our guests and staff, as well as our local communities through the giving of the AMB West Community Fund, Base Camp and West Creek Ranch. I hope you have a chance to relax and unwind….as well as kick up your heels a bit!
Hi everyone! I am beyond excited and very blessed to becoming back to Mountain Sky for my second season. I was born and raised in southern Indiana where I’ve spent most of my life hunting, fishing, and soaking up the great outdoors. My love for the outdoors sparks my adventures, and I can’t wait to meet you down at the barn. I have a strong passion for working with horses and meeting new people, so Mountain Sky has been an amazing place to work. I look forward to hearing your story as we ride together through the beautiful Montana landscape!
Kids Program Assistant Manager
Hey everybody! I am beyond thrilled to be working my first season at Mountain Sky and cannot wait to spend some quality time in one of my favorite states. I am a Georgia native and a recent graduate from the University of Georgia with a degree in Environmental Economics and Management. I am always up for a crazy adventure- whether it be road tripping, backpacking, or kayaking throughout the US or abroad. I am looking forward to introducing the outdoors to the ranch’s guests in my own way and hope to ignite a similar passion for the environment in the kids I meet this summer. Until then, I am training hard for the countless water balloon fights and dodgeball games that are to come!
Hello everyone! This will be my first summer at Mountain Sky, but I’m no stranger to Montana! I’ve been coming here with my family ever since birth, and I am so excited to be a part of this great group of people. I call Minnesota home and I am currently pursuing my career in Nursing at South Central College in Mankato. I love to hike, travel, and explore new places. I love every kind of animal and I am a lover of nature. I’m super outgoing, so meeting new people is something I really enjoy. I’m so excited for this summer and can’t wait to get to know you all!
Land and Livestock Manager
I grew up about an hour away in Big Timber, Montana. I love Montana and the western lifestyle and all it has to offer. I live at the lower ranch where I spend most of my time working. I take care of the agriculture side of Mountain Sky so I work mostly with the cows, irrigation, haying and fencing. I will have the team hitched and ready for a hayride on Wednesday nights at dinner ride which is right out my back door. If you are interested in chasing cows I will take you out and show you how it’s done.
Guest Services Intern
Hi everyone! This is my third summer officially working here at Mountain Sky, although I have been coming to the ranch since I was in the womb! I am from Atlanta, Georgia and while I qualify as a city girl, my heart is in Montana. Next year, I’ll be studying hotel administration at Cornell University and can’t wait to further my career in hospitality! Come find me at dance night to learn some new moves, or at the bar to chat. I will never get tired of talking, especially about the ranch! I am looking forward to getting to know all of you better, and ensuring that your experience is as wonderful as mine has always been.
Hello, everyone! I am more than excited to be joining the team for my first summer at Mountain Sky Guest Ranch! I was born and raised in the wonderful Northern Maine woods, surrounded by miles of wilderness. I’m heading into my Senior year at the University of Maine at Farmington where I am studying environmental policy and planning. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, traveling, yoga, playing guitar, and mostly anything that has to do with being outside! Let the marvelous adventure of this summer begin- can’t wait to meet you all!
Hey guys! This will be my first summer working at Mountain Sky. I’m from a small town in Missouri and I recently graduated college with an associate’s in Agriculture. I have worked with my family’s horse training and boarding business my whole life. I have always been drawn to the mountains and in particular, Montana. I am looking forward to many adventures and being able to share them with wonderful people.
Howdy! I am so excited to join the team for my first season at Mountain Sky. I’m currently wrapping up my senior year at the College of St. Benedict studying communication with a minor in psychology. Born and raised in Minnesota, I’ve enjoyed spending summers at the lake and winters on the slopes but I am eager to explore all Montana has to offer this summer. Looking forward to this new adventure with you all!
Mary Jo Horn
Hey y’all! This is my first summer at Mountain Sky and I could not be more excited! I’m from Athens, Georgia where I stayed to attend college at the University of Georgia. I’m graduating in May with a criminal justice degree and plan on taking some time off before attending law school. In my last semester I’ve been lucky enough to complete an internship in Washington D.C. and as much as I love the city, I’m looking forward to being surrounded by mountains again. I spent the last two summers working in southwest Colorado, so the ranch lifestyle is nothing new to me! I’m thrilled to be starting a new adventure at Mountain Sky and can’t wait to meet everyone!
I came to the ranch to direct the construction of Rising Sun Golf Course. I have 20-plus years of experience in the golf business as a superintendent including the construction and maintenance of four Johnny Miller Design courses. My wife Jodi Petersen (Accounting) and son Taylor Petersen (Assistant Golf Superintendent) have also joined me here, and we all look forward to giving you a truly memorable golf experience during your visit to the ranch.
Hey everyone! This will be my second season at Mountain Sky and I’m so thrilled to be back and to have another chance to explore Paradise Valley with you! I was born and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where I grew up enjoying family time at our cottage, fishing, boating and snowmobiling. After high school I continued my education at the University of St. Thomas (MN) where I earned a degree in psychology and family studies, and soon I will begin a new journey into graduate school for a degree in Child Life. I’m so looking forward to our time together and hope you come to love Mountain Sky the way we do!
Dining Room Assistant Manager
This will be my first summer at Mountain Sky and in Montana. I was born and raised in South Georgia, and grew up in the outdoors. I enjoy being active whether it be hunting, fishing, scuba diving, or at the gym. I attended the University of Georgia where I graduated with degrees in Management and Finance. I am excited for the opportunity to spend the summer and the ranch and meet people from so many different backgrounds!
Landscaper and Photographer
My eighth season at Mountain Sky! How did that happen? Leaving this all behind is apparently the ONLY skill I haven’t learned in my years here. I love having my hands all over the ranch; I’ll be cooking at Breakfast Ride for you on Tuesdays during the summer, maintaining our beautiful landscape, and covertly snapping your picture whenever I see that inevitable smile. I grew up in Stockton, Illinois, a tiny town in the northwestern part of the state. I went to school at NIU for a photography and ceramic degree, and during the summers I headed west and worked in Yellowstone National Park for a few years. Needless to say, I did not (or could not) stray too far. In my free time, I look forward to some hiking, climbing, and sleeping somewhere under the stars. Can’t wait to see you!
I am looking forward to my eleventh summer at Mountain Sky. I spend much of my time here making sense out of numbers and helping a bit with computers. I feel truly blessed to be able to work and live in such a beautiful place! My home is in Livingston, and I absolutely love it there. When I am not working, I enjoy singing, gardening, biking, hiking, cross country skiing, and spending time with family and friends.
I graduated from Christopher Newport University, where I played field hockey and lacrosse while earning my degree in communication studies and minoring in studio art. I’m a little nomadic in nature: after studying in Spain and exploring Europe, I since have traveled to 31 different countries. Some of the highlights from these past few years include volunteering at an elephant village in Thailand, receiving my open water diving certification, taking an ultralight flight over the Himalayas, participating in an 11 day Vipanassana silent meditation in Nepal, completing the 500 mile walk of the Camino de Santiago, selling my jewelry and oil blends at small Chilean markets, and living at a yoga ashram in the Himalayas where I pursued one of my passions, yoga, and received my first TTC in India. I have also lived and worked at a yoga center in the Bahamas as well as in Quebec, Canada. On top of some online trainings, I have also received another 200 hour TTC in Peru, a 100 hour meditation training in Dharmsala, India, and most recently a 30 CEU in Yin Yoga in Costa Rica. I am BEYOND excited to return to Mountain Sky for my eighth season! I look forward to seeing all those familiar faces of families and friends, as well as meeting all the newcomers to the ranch! Can’t wait to see you all in our beautiful Wellness Center for relaxation, restoration, and renewal!
This is my second season on the ranch and I could not be more excited for another summer with you all! I’m a California native but have spent the past few years traveling the world. Some highlights of my last trip were hiking to Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal, getting yoga teacher certified in India, and scuba diving with whale sharks in Australia. The last few months were not quite as adventurous, I spent most of my time studying, but I’m very excited to be headed to University of Montana’s Natural Resources and Environmental Law program in the fall! You can find me this summer in the yoga studio, out on the hiking trails, and down at the ropes course! I somehow managed to never quite master the two step last year so please come help me out on dance night! See you there!
Hello everyone! I am so excited to be returning to Mountain sky, this will be my second year at the ranch and I can’t wait to see everyone again. I am a Pacific Northwest native that decided to trade in the crazy traffic and rain of Washington, for the horses and mountains of Montana. I graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, but more importantly, I am a die hard Cougs fan! When I’m not working, you can find me out hiking, camping, fishing up and down big creek, or in the winter time, riding the slopes at Bridger Bowl. Get ready for another amazing summer and the adventures to come!
Dining Room Manager
This is my second summer at the ranch and I’m so excited for another adventure at Mountain Sky! I grew up in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, where I developed my love for getting outside and exploring new places. When I’m not in the dining room, you’ll probably find me hiking, reading a book, or just enjoying the amazing scenery. I’m really looking forward to another great season with all of you!
When it comes to the mountains, I just can’t stay away! A few years ago, I spent a weekend in Montana while working in Wyoming for the summer, and knew I’d be back to explore those rivers and roads. I grew up in the kitchen, waking up early to make breakfast for my siblings when I couldn’t even reach the counter, and one day it turned into my career. I’ve been cooking the last 3 years at a farm-to-table restaurant in the Finger Lakes region of New York, where I’ve called home since I knew how. When springtime comes you can find me in the woods, chasing turkeys around, and come fall I’ll be catching rays in a tree stand with my bow in hand. If I’m not hunting, I’ll be hiking in the Adirondacks, kayaking on the lake with friends, or catching a good concert. Besides the kitchen, outside is my favorite place to be. I’m looking forward to spending the summer at Mountain Sky, meeting you all, and hopefully brushing up on my fly-fishing skills!
Hey there! This will be my first time in Montana and I am so excited to be spending it at Mountain Sky. I was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia. My passions include listening to good music, hiking, being out on a boat, talking college football, and spending time with great people. I recently graduated high school and I will be kicking off my gap year at Mountain Sky. I have always had a sense of adventure and have loved meeting new people. I have studied abroad in Belize and Spain, was an exchange student in Finland, and travelled Europe with my friends. I am so excited to meet y’all and hear your stories!
This is my 28th season at Mountain Sky, and I still love it. I am partly responsible for all the sweets, granola, breads and other treats you eat here. Jessica Nelson will be helping me out, and we are excited to have her back. In the summer when I am not working, I love to hike, bike and garden. My husband Turk and I grow most of our own food. Join me on the “All Day Hike” on Thursday during the summer.
This will be season number eight for me at the ranch. Originally from Minnesota, I’m lucky enough to be able call Mountain Sky my year-round home. This winter I spent most of my time between New York and Mexico. I’ll be spending my weekends backpacking, floating the Yellowstone, and hitting up all the live music in the area. Looking forward to another incredible year here!
Hello I’m Phillip Ellington and I’m from Central Arkansas. I like to fish, hunt, camp, hike, read, and cook. I look forward to working with Chef Jonathan and all the staff at Mountain Sky. I’m excited to have the opportunity to feed the wonderful guests this season.
Hello Everyone! This will be my first season at Mountain Sky and couldn’t be more excited to join the team! I am a Miami native who has always been drawn to the beauty of Montana and am thrilled at the opportunity to experience this area alongside all of you for the first time. I am a current student at Florida International University pursuing a degree in Hospitality & Tourism Management with a background in the hotel industry. On my free time I enjoy travelling, meeting new people and being outdoors. I look forward to getting to know every single one of you!
Hello everyone! This will be my first season at Mountain Sky. As an Atlanta native, the vastly different landscapes of the western states absolutely captivated me each time I visited. After I took an immersive geology course in the form of a three-week road trip through Utah, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Colorado one summer in high school, I just couldn’t get my mind and hopes off the west. Spending this season on the ranch following my graduation from the University of Georgia (go dawgs!) will truly be a dream come true for me! I’m pumped to spend this summer with you all before heading back to school for my master’s in speech pathology.
This will be my 14th summer as facilities manager on the ranch. It has been fun and rewarding to make lasting improvements that are appreciated. I’m looking forward to seeing some new country this summer. You can, too.

Grounds & Maintenance
Hello all. This is my first season at Mountain Sky and I’m more than excited to be a part of the team. It’s been a long time dream of mine to work at a guest ranch and after 5 years at a recreational vehicle dealership, I decided it was time to pursue my dream. I was born and raised in rural Northern California and I am no stranger to the outdoors, most of my spare time is spent hunting, fishing, hiking, and wildlife viewing. I can’t wait to meet new and amazing people while I experience where this summer will take me.
Howdy y’all! I am 23 years old and a recent graduate from Concordia College Moorhead. I am from Oak Grove Minnesota, that is a town of approximately 7,000 people an hour directly north of Minneapolis. I am an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoys, biking, hiking, kayaking, fishing and hunting. In college I studied business administration, history, and psychology, receiving a double major in the former, and a minor in latter. This will be my first summer at the ranch and I am extremely excited to get out west and start making memories.
Hello everyone! This will be my first summer at Mountain Sky and I could not be more excited! I am currently finishing up my third year in college close to home at the University of Cincinnati. I grew up on the east side of town developing a love for sports and all things outdoors. I’ve played baseball throughout my college career and love going to college football games. I like to spend my free time outside enjoying activities like hiking, hunting, golfing and anything on or around the water. This will be my first time in Montana, and I can’t wait for the good times with good people at Mountain Sky!
I am a Colorado native that got hooked on traveling after I spent a year in New Zealand in my early twenties. I immediately fell in love with the seasonal lifestyle and the endless possibilities it offered me to travel the world. I have been to some amazing countries over the years making travel and meeting new people among my many passions in life. After a summer in Alaska, I planted my feet in Montana, thus, dubbing me a “lifer”. Montana has my heart. In 2011, I had the amazing opportunity to take on a management role and have since been the housekeeping manager at a neighboring guest ranch. My family and I found our dream home in paradise valley last year and I can’t wait to start my next epic adventure at Mountain Sky this summer!
Hi there! This will be my first season working at Mountain Sky and I am so thrilled to be joining such an amazing team! After visiting the ranch as a guest and falling in love with beautiful Montana I just knew I had to apply for a job here. I’m originally from London, England and I have recently graduated from Oxford University with a degree in History. Since I was young I have been completely obsessed with horses, taking any opportunities to ride whilst growing up in the middle of a big city. I cannot wait to spend the entire summer in the saddle, exploring the stunning landscapes of Paradise Valley and sharing it with you all!
Growing up in Steamboat Springs Colorado, I have always been a very active person, from golf to hockey and of course fishing—I love it all! Combine that with my love for the outdoors and my passion for food and hospitality, Mountain Sky is a home away from home. This will be my second season here and I cannot wait to share in adventure with all of you again.
Looking forward to a great first summer at Mountain Sky with all of you guys! I’m from Newnan, Georgia just outside of Atlanta, but seem to spend most of my time in various parts of Alabama. After spending the last four years at Auburn University chasing a passion for the outdoors as well as a degree, I managed to graduate with a degree in Building Science. From turkey hunting to fly fishing, I have been fortunate enough to enjoy doing just about anything in the outdoors. Always looking for the next great experience and adventure, I know Mountain Sky is just the place I want to be. Looking forward to an unforgettable summer with everyone. War Eagle!
Kids Program Manager
Hey y’all! I am beyond thrilled to work at Mountain Sky as the Kids Program Manager! It will be my first summer at the ranch and more than excited to be a part of the team. I am a southern girl from Greenville, South Carolina but I have always dreamed about working out west. This past February, I was skiing in Big Sky and when it was time for me to return back to South Carolina, I did not want to leave. Therefore, I knew I had to come back to this beautiful state somehow, which is how I came across Mountain Sky. I recently graduated from Furman University where I was a Communications major with a double minor in Poverty Studies and Latin American Studies. In my free time, you can find me running with my identical twin sister, Mary Bradley, working out, taking pictures, enjoying a cup of coffee, or spending time with friends and family. I am so excited to be in Montana for the summer, as I have a love for being outside and exploring. While I am out west, I hope to visit Glacier National Park along with exploring Yellowstone more deeply. I know it is going to be an incredible summer and I cannot wait to meet you all!
This is my 22th season at Mountain Sky! My husband and I recently started our own cattle and hay operation in Wilsall, northeast of Livingston in the Crazy Mountains. I coordinate the community giving for the ranch and enjoy working with our non-profit partners. You can learn more about our partnerships in the community in your in-room packet.
Hey there. After surviving my first Montana winter, I’m so exited to be starting my second season at Mountain Sky in a new role. As a South Carolina native, Montana blew me away last year. Between the adventures I had and people I met, I knew I had to come back. I’m thrilled for another summer in Montana and can’t wait to share it with all of you!
Assistant Golf Superintendent
I work down at the golf course, spending quality time with my Dad Mike Petersen (Golf Superintendent). This is my ninth season at Mountain Sky, and it has been such a wonderful experience. I hope you will come down and visit us!
Welcome to Mountain Sky! I’m thrilled to be returning for another season of great rides, stunning scenery, and amazing food. I’m looking forward to seeing all the returning staff and guests who’ve also become my friends. As well, I’m excited to meet some new guests and “wow” them with the beauty of this place I call home.
Challenge Course & Basecamp Manager
This is my fourth summer working for Mountain Sky and the Blank Family Foundation. Raised in Flagstaff, Arizona, I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a BS in elementary education and a strong desire to experience the ski-bum lifestyle. That desire took me all over the Southwest for five years until I landed here in Montana. I knew immediately I had found somewhere I could call home. During those adventures, I discovered the challenge course industry, which fulfilled my desire to learn and teach through experiential education. In my off-time, you may run into me riding my mountain bike, climbing, or fishing. I am always up for an adventure and love to travel and spend time with friends new and old. I look forward to this summer being the best yet, and hope to see you down at the Big Creek Challenge Course!
I am excited to be spending my first full summer in Montana at Mountain Sky. Although I was born in Atlanta, Georgia my family has vacationed in the West ever since I was a little boy. I found my passion for Parks and Recreation in the West and have pursued it ever since. I am currently a senior at the University of Mississippi majoring in Sports and Recreation Management. I like to mountain bike, kayak, skeet shoot, golf and snowboard. Looking forward to seeing everyone this summer. Hotty Toddy.
Hi friends! Being born and raised in Florida, I am eager to experience the western lifestyle and meet new people out west! I love hiking, backpacking, and camping in my spare time and hope to travel and work for the next few years before attending grad school. I’ve spent my past three years at Florida State University earning my B.S. degree and working as a challenge course facilitator, trip leader, and camp counselor. I have made so many friends through these experiences and can’t wait to make more out at Mountain Sky this summer!
