My first experience at Mountain Sky was in 2005 when my husband Yancey & I stayed the night in the Pony cabin while attending the Montana Dude Rancher’s Association state meeting. At the time we were operating Lone Mountain Ranch in Big Sky and we were both captivated by Mountain Sky’s quiet mountain setting and beautiful historic lodge and cabins. Growing up on a horse and cattle ranch outside of Absarokee, Montana, it really felt like home to me. After 10 years at a guest ranch in Big Sky and a year in Choteau, Montana running a private ranch, Yancey and I found our way back to Mountain Sky in 2007 to do what we really love: create and share a world-class guest ranch experience. Our kids, Baylor (16) and Molly (14), grew up at Mountain Sky and now attend school in Livingston. They stay busy year-round with team sports and recreating on the ski hill or on the water.
The past 4 years have been the most challenging and fulfilling of all my time in guest ranching as I have had the opportunity to be a part of the design teams that helped create Mr. Blank’s dreams of a Wellness facility, a ground-up construction of the West Creek Ranch nonprofit retreat, an expanded Saloon and Kitchen remodel on Mountain Sky’s Lodge, and most recently the three new guest cabins at Mountain Sky. Every decision made was an intentional balance of building toward more opportunities for our guests to connect with people and the outdoors, while maintaining the traditions and magic of Mountain Sky. Every building was designed to make wellness, connection and rejuvenation an integral part of your stay.
Mountain Sky has a special place in my heart as I continue to see how much it impacts the lives of our guests and staff, as well as our local communities through the giving of the AMB West Community Fund, Base Camp and West Creek Ranch. I hope you have a chance to relax and unwind….as well as kick up your heels a bit!
