Arthur & Angie Blank
On behalf of our entire family, Angie and I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Mountain Sky. This year marks the 19th consecutive summer that our family has spent at the ranch, and we look forward to getting to know you and making your time here a special experience. We also hope that you have a chance to meet and get to know some of our family members during your stay – this is a place where new friendships with our guests begin each and every year. We hope you will enjoy your time at Mountain Sky as much as we do. We feel strongly there is no better place to reconnect with nature and with the most important people in our lives.
I was raised in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, where my parents were co-owners and operators of several restaurants. I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in finance. After graduation I decided to spend a summer in Big Sky, Montana. I met my wife Kelly at a ranch and soon figured out that guest ranching was a perfect career fit for me. Our son Baylor is twelve years old and he looks forward to dodgeball and Splashball all year long. We also have a daughter, Molly, who is ten. Molly is a horse lover so you may see her at the barn. As an outdoor enthusiast, I love all the recreational opportunities that Montana has to offer. I am so lucky to be able to share this enthusiasm with the folks who come here to experience the outdoors. I look forward to spending time with each one of you.
This is my 19th season at the ranch. My wife Jolene and I reside at the lower ranch with our five children, Makaila, Caleb, Natalia, Josiah and Ethan. I look forward to meeting all of you, as it will be my task to find you the perfect four-legged friend for the week!
Assistant Head Housekeeper
While it may be my fourth season, this year feels more like a second chapter in my Mountain Sky story. Growing up in Woodstock, CT, I branched what felt far out of my comfort zone to Arcadia University outside of Philly for college. As my time at Arcadia was winding down, I took a chance to branch remarkably further outside of my comfort zone and move to Montana. It was the best decision I ever made, and the last three seasons have given me a lifetime worth of memories with the guests and my coworkers. Most of my three years were spent with the teen program, and while I will miss that role dearly I am very excited to begin as the assistant housekeeping manager this season. While it will be a new challenge, I hope this role allows me to ultimately have even more guest interaction! Don’t be shy if we pass each other on a trail, on the dance floor, at the bar, or if you catch me cleaning your toilet! I look forward to catching up with all my old friends and making many new ones.
I’m excited to have entered my second season here at the ranch. I look forward to seeing our returning guests, as well as getting to know the new guests that I spoke with over the winter. Originally from western Pennsylvania, my husband and I have called Montana home for the past twelve years. Our 10-year-old son John keeps us entertained and busy. I hope you enjoy your vacation at this magical place as much as I enjoy working here.
Guest Services, Fall Season
Greetings y’all! I’m thrilled to get started on what will be my first season at Mountain Sky. I’m currently in my fourth year at Georgia Tech studying civil engineering. While the library does command a lot of my time, I like to balance it out with running, backpacking, playing guitar, or simply exploring Atlanta. As fun as Atlanta is, I’m eager to ditch the city, join the crew at Mountain Sky, and meet all the wonderful people I’ve been hearing about!
I am very grateful that I get to call Mountain Sky my home for the fifth time. I was born and raised in Virginia. After graduating college in 2011, I decided to venture out West and give seasonal work a try, and I’ve been enjoying every minute ever since. Over the winter I finally decided to try and brave the cold and made the move to Bozeman. However, I am beyond excited that the warm summer months are upon us and I get to make my return to the ranch. You can find me having fun in the housekeeping department, floating the Yellowstone every chance I get, or enjoying a lively night in the saloon. Cheers!
Hello everyone, this will be my first summer at Mountain Sky. I currently attend Saint John’s University located in Collegeville, Minnesota. I am majoring in global business and minoring in communication. I have spent my last four summers working at a golf course near my home in Chaska, Minnesota. Since my first visit, I have dreamt about living in Montana, so this is a dream come true. I enjoy golfing, camping, having bonfires, taking photos, and watching the Minnesota Wild. I look forward to meeting you all, cheers!
I’m originally from Michigan. I just finished working a season in the beautiful Florida Keys and am excited to experience Big Sky Country for the first time. I enjoy spending my time reading, hiking, and playing the guitar. I’ve worked in a variety of kitchens and am ready to join Chef Romans this at season at Mountain Sky!
Greetings! I am so pleased to be working at a job that is also one of my passions in life – golf! My regular job is as a business teacher and boys and girls golf coach at nearby Gardiner High School. Our team has practiced at the Rising Sun Golf Course for the past four years, and I tell my players that we are fortunate to have the best practice facility in the state! I grew up in a farming community in Langdon, North Dakota and moved to Montana in 1984. I have been teaching at Gardiner since 1990. Montana is an awesome place to raise a family. You will find me working on the grounds crew at the golf course, or playing a quick round of golf. Enjoy your stay, and I hope to see you on the links!
I am thrilled to be returning to Paradise Valley to work at Mountain Sky! This will be my tenth summer at the ranch, fourth on staff! I am from Newnan, Georgia and recently graduated from Auburn University this spring. I love everything outdoors and I am a sports fanatic. You will probably find me on the basketball court beating Luke Ambrose in a competitive game of “horse”. Can’t wait to meet y’all!
After stunningly going undrafted in the 2017 NFL, MLB, and American Basketball Association drafts, I have elected to return for a fourth season of quasi-professional Splashball. That said, I could not be more grateful for the chance to make it out for another summer in Paradise Valley. Since my last summer on Big Creek Road, I have finished a masters in accountancy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Outside of the fast-paced world of Microsoft Excel, I love the outdoors, college football, and hanging out with family back in my hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. I look forward to seeing y’all this summer!
I am very eager to begin my journey at Mountain Sky for my very first season! I grew up in the small town of Dyersville, Iowa, home of the Field of Dreams movie site. I thoroughly enjoy spending time exploring the outdoors and taking in what God has created for us. I attend the University of Iowa working towards a double major in marketing and art. This season at Mountain Sky, I am looking forward to learning more about myself, meeting so many amazing people, and seeing what Montana has to offer! I am very excited to get to know you all!
I am a long-time resident of Livingston, MT who came to Mountain Sky to work on the golf course two seasons ago. I spend my winters working a Bridger Bowl Ski Resort and enjoy hunting and fly fishing. I look forward to seeing you all down at the golf course this season. Welcome to Montana!
Grounds & Maintenance
This will be my eighth year working at Mountain Sky in the maintenance department. You will see me working on the sprinklers, testing the pool, restocking your firewood and mowing grass. I am originally from Minnesota and grew up on a farm with my family. On my off time I like to hike, camp, float the Yellowstone River and run up and down Big Creek Road.
Assistant Pastry Chef
Hello everyone. This will be my second season at Mountain Sky and I am so excited to start another great adventure. I graduated from Paul Smith’s College of the Adirondacks, with a degree in pastry arts and a minor in business. I have been working seasonal jobs since and traveling the country in the process. Some of the things I love to do are going on road trips, adventures, reading, listening to music, concerts, and spending time with family and friends.
After seasons spent helping my husband Mike Petersen (Golf Superintendent) and son Taylor Petersen (Assistant Golf Superintendent) at Rising Sun Golf Course, and seasons spent working with the office team, I’m excited to return for my seventh season, in which I’ll be helping with accounting and golf.
I’m a Livingston, Montana native who has spent over two thirds of my life in restaurant kitchens. I completed my Le Cordon Blue externship here at the ranch back in 2000 and “just knew” then that my dream was to be the Chef at Mountain Sky Guest Ranch someday. I’ve spent the last 15 years in some of the top kitchens in Nashville and New York City, as well as traveling the globe to study food cultures. I like to spend my off time traveling and donating my time and expertise to helping local youth broaden their horizons in the hospitality industry.
Assistant Head Wrangler
Welcome or welcome back! I grew up on San Juan Island in northwest Washington State, but now Bozeman is my home base. Before Mountain Sky, I graduated from Pomona College in Southern California and after a brief stint of sitting at a desk in San Francisco, I hopped on the wrangling train. Come join me on the trail and see why I have yet to look back (this is year number six out here for me). I’m also a proud member of the Mountain Sky Guest Ranch Fund — did you know that this ranch has given more than $4 million to non-profits that support local kids? I mean, just when you thought this place couldn’t get any better, right?
Landscape and Interiors
I grew up on a ranch outside of Absarokee, Montana. I spent my summers in the saddle working on our family horse and cattle ranch and O-mok-seeing. During college I got a summer job at a guest ranch in Big Sky and ended up liking it so much that I stayed on working and commuting to finish my degree. I graduated with a degree in horticulture and landscape design from Montana State University in Bozeman. I met my husband Yancey on my first day of work at Lone Mountain Ranch and we got married six years later at my parent’s ranch in Reed Point, Montana. We have two kids, Baylor (12) and Molly (10), a golden retriever named Riley and two roaming cats, Smokey and Grey Pony. We have been at Mountain Sky since 2007 and are blessed to be a part of the Mountain Sky family. Mountain Sky has a special place in our hearts as we continue to see how much it impacts the lives of our guests and staff as well as our local communities through the giving of the MSGR Fund.
Hello All! The beautiful West has drawn me in once again for my third summer at Mountain Sky. Thinking about sunsets on Emigrant peak, horseback rides to the most incredible views, and the incredible people I’ve met and will meet throughout the summer have kept me going through the long Michigan winter. I just finished my first year as a fourth grade teacher in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Although I love teaching, having summers off to spend in Big Sky Country is definitely a perk of the job. I am looking forward to all of the memories that will be made this summer with all of you!
Guest Services Intern
Hi everyone! This is my first summer officially working here at Mountain Sky, although I have been coming to the ranch since I was in the womb! I am from Atlanta, Georgia, and while I qualify as a city girl, my heart is in Montana. I love to do anything involving music, whether it be Broadway back home, or singing in the bar on Tuesday nights! I am looking forward to getting to know all of you better, and ensuring that your experience is as wonderful as mine has always been.
Land and Livestock Manager
This is my first year working here at Mountain Sky so I am excited to meet all of you. I was born and raised just down the road in Big Timber, Montana. I went to college at Montana State University and then moved to Kremmling, Colorado and worked on a ranch for seven years. It’s always been my goal to end up back in Montana, and Mountain Sky offered me that opportunity. I love the Western lifestyle and I’m glad we can share it with you.
Reservations & Group Sales
Hello, all! I fell in love with Mountain Sky and Montana within days of arriving and I cannot wait to spend my fifth season in this magical place. I was born and raised on the seacoast of New Hampshire and graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2012. I am happiest when outdoors and can often be found floating the Yellowstone or frolicking through the stunning Montana wildflowers. I love live music, traveling, and a good cup of coffee. I look forward to all the adventures that are sure to come this season.
After two seasons as a wrangler at Mountain Sky, I am overjoyed to be heading up Big Creek Road again this summer and hanging out with all of the wonderful staff and guests that will do the same! I was born and raised in the small town of Berea, Kentucky. After four years at the University of Kentucky, I am a certified elementary teacher in both Kentucky and now Michigan. I cannot wait to be waking up before the sun and getting the horses ready, as well as riding through the pristine backwoods of Montana, talking about everything under the endless Montana sky. As Robert Duvall said in Lonesome Dove, “Ain’t nothing better than riding a fine horse through new country.” I look forward to taking you to familiar places, as well as new places all over the ranch this summer.
I’m very excited to be heading back to the ranch for my third season. I came to Mountain Sky two years ago after graduating from University of Michigan, and Montana stole my heart. For an avid hiker and lover of mountains, Paradise Valley is truly paradise. After dabbling briefly with ventriloquism (harder than it looks!), I’m ready to get back to what I know, and to say hey to old friends and meet some new ones. Looking forward to seeing you this summer at Mountain Sky!

Hello All! This will be my first summer with Mountain Sky and I can’t even explain how excited I am to be a part of this wonderful team. I am from Green Bay, Wisconsin so as far as stereotypes go, yes I love cheese and The Green Bay Packers. I attended college at Purdue and in Madison, Wisconsin studying both Criminal Justice and Psychology. I’ve played multiple sports through my life with special interests in golf and soccer. I am looking forward to this season at Mountain Sky and can’t wait to meet many new people. Oh, and Go Pack Go.
I came to the ranch to direct the construction of Rising Sun Golf Course. I have 20-plus years of experience in the golf business as a superintendent including the construction and maintenance of four Johnny Miller Design courses. My wife Jodi Petersen (Accounting) and son Taylor Petersen (Assistant Golf Superintendent) have also joined me here, and we all look forward to giving you a truly memorable golf experience during your visit to the ranch.
Guest Services and Bartender
This is my first summer at the ranch and I’m more than excited to be onboard! I am from Newnan, Georgia and I recently graduated from Auburn University. I enjoy being outdoors, exercise, and traveling, and anything music-related. If you need someone to join you on a hike or to talk concerts with, I’m your girl! Can’t wait to meet y’all!
Hey there! Originally from the Bay Area, I first came to Montana two years ago. I am now so excited to be a part of your ranch experience during my first summer at Mountain Sky! I spend winters trenching my way through Bridger Bowl’s cold smoke on skis and am a volunteer ski patroller at Big Sky, both resorts near Bozeman. When it’s warm, hiking, slack-lining and climbing are my favorite! I am a fulltime student at Montana State University, studying wildlife ecology. I cannot imagine a better place to spend the summer; surrounded by amazing people, beautiful mountains, and incredible wildlife. I look forward to meeting you all and for the incredible experiences Mountain Sky has in store for us!
Guest Services and Photographer
My sixth season at Mountain Sky! How did that happen? Too much beauty: sights and people; I am eager for more! I love having my hands all over the ranch; I’ll be cooking at Breakfast Ride for you on Tuesdays during the summer, maintaining our beautiful landscape, and covertly snapping your picture whenever I see that inevitable smile. I grew up in Stockton, Illinois, a tiny town in the northwestern part of the state. I went to school at NIU for a photography and ceramic degree, and during the summers I headed west and worked in Yellowstone National Park for a number of years. Needless to say, I did not (or could not) stray too far. In my free time, I look forward to some hiking, climbing, and sleeping somewhere under the stars. Can’t wait to see you!
I am looking forward to my tenth summer at Mountain Sky. I spend much of my time here making sense out of numbers and helping a bit with computers. I feel truly blessed to be able to work and live in such a beautiful place! My home is in Livingston, and I absolutely love it there. When I am not working, I enjoy singing, gardening, biking, hiking, cross country skiing, and spending time with family and friends.
Yoga and Guest Services
I graduated from Christopher Newport University, where I played field hockey and lacrosse while earning my degree in communication studies and minoring in studio art. I’m a little nomadic in nature: after studying in Spain and exploring Europe, I since have traveled around eleven different countries in Southeast Asia. Some of the highlights from these past two years include volunteering at an elephant village in Thailand, receiving my open water diving certification, and living at an ashram in the Himalayas where I pursued one of my passions, yoga, and received my 200 hours teaching certificate. Since receiving my TTC in India I have lived and worked at a yoga center in the Bahamas as well as a yoga center in Quebec, Canada. This spring I traveled in Peru where I also received another 200 hour TTC. I am BEYOND excited to return to Mountain Sky! Of course, there’s so much more to tell, so if you love talking about yoga, adventure or travel, or anything really – come find me. I’d be thrilled to chat and hear about your experiences too! I look forward to seeing all those familiar faces of families and friends, as well as meeting all the new-comers to the ranch! Can’t wait to see you all in yoga class, on the ropes course, and on some awesome hikes!
This is my 26th season at Mountain Sky, and I still love it. I am partly responsible for all the sweets, granola, breads and other treats you eat here. My assistant is Jessica Nelson, and we are excited to have her here. In the summer when I am not working, I love to hike, bike and garden. My husband Turk and I grow most of our own food. Join me on the “All Day Hike” on Thursday.
I joined the Mountain Sky team at the golf course in May, 2015. A recently retired banker, my wife and I had just moved to Montana from Wisconsin to enjoy our daughter and three growing grandsons in the Gardiner area. I hope you get a chance to enjoy the great golf during your stay.
I’m looking forward to my sixth season here at the ranch. Originally from Minnesota, I’m lucky enough to spend most of my year at Mountain Sky while escaping the cold for some warmer weather (this winter I travelled to Ecuador and Mexico). I’ll be spending my weekends hiking and camping in the area and floating the Yellowstone. Let me know if you need someone to play tennis, golf, or billiards with, or to enjoy whatever is on tap in the saloon!
This will be my 12th summer as facilities manager on the ranch. It has been fun and rewarding to make lasting improvements that are appreciated. I’m looking forward to seeing some new country this summer. You can, too.
Assistant General Manager
Raised in nearby Bozeman, my Mountain Sky career began in 2001 when I was a freshman at Gonzaga University (GO ZAGS). What started as a fun summer job eventually morphed into a career, and – sixteen seasons later – I’m still grateful every day to be part of such an incredible community. When I’m not out hiking, fly-fishing or floating the Yellowstone, you can find me and my wife Stacy soaking in the sights and sounds of Bozeman from the front porch of our fixer-upper.
AM Sous Chef
This will be my fourth summer at Mountain Sky, and I am nothing short of ecstatic to return. A history major from the East Coast, I’ve found myself cooking out West. I love to hike, fish, and go birding. I look forward to seeing you around!
Grounds & Maintenance
Hello all! Born and raised in this beautiful state, I grew up in Great Falls but call Bozeman home now. Montana is in my blood and the mountains and rivers here are my playground. I am an avid hunter and fisherman, and I enjoy camping, backpacking, and riding horses. This will be my third summer at Mountain Sky, and I am very excited for this adventure and to meet all of you!
I was raised in Indiana, but I just spent the last four years at the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying biomedical engineering. Coming fresh off graduation, I’ll be taking a year away from education before heading back to attend medical school Fall 2018 (fingers crossed!). I absolutely love the Midwest, but I’m thrilled to be out in Montana for the rest of the year working in one of the most spectacular areas of our country. Most of my hobbies involve being outdoors (mountain biking, hiking, running, etc.), so I couldn’t be more excited to take advantage of everything Paradise Valley has to offer. If you ever need a hiking or running buddy or someone to just plain act a fool with on the dance floor, I’m more than happy to join ya! Cannot wait to meet everyone and serve the awesome guests of Mountain Sky.
This will be my first summer at Mountain Sky, and my fourth year guiding within the greater Yellowstone ecosystem. I could not be more excited to be joining the team! Over the past ten years I have been lucky enough to work on working cattle and bison ranches, guest ranches, and horse packing outfits in five different states across the Rocky Mountain West. When I’m not guiding in the mountains, I have another life as a disease ecologist and anthropologist and I am currently attending graduate school at the University of Colorado in Boulder. I fell in love with guiding because it allows me to combine my passion for learning and teaching with my passion for horses and the outdoors. I cannot wait to share this amazing country with all of you!
Hey everyone! This will be my first summer at the ranch and I’m extremely excited to meet all of you. I grew up in Minnesota, and am currently finishing up my junior year at St. John’s University in central Minnesota. I love to spend my time fishing, hunting, camping, or drinking a beer around the fire with friends. Living in Montana has been a dream of mine for a long time, and I can’t wait to see what adventures this summer brings.
This is my 19th season at Mountain Sky! My husband and I recently started our own cattle and hay operation in Wilsall, northeast of Livingston in the Crazy Mountains. I coordinate the community giving for the ranch and enjoy working with our non-profit partners. You can learn more about our partnerships in the community in your in-room packet.
Assistant Golf Superintendent
I work down at the golf course, spending quality time with my Dad Mike Petersen (Golf Superintendent). This is my seventh season at Mountain Sky, and it has been such a wonderful experience. I hope you will come down and visit us!
Welcome to Mountain Sky! I’m thrilled to be returning for another season of great rides, stunning scenery, and amazing food. I’m looking forward to seeing all the returning staff and guests who’ve also become my friends. As well, I’m excited to meet some new guests and “wow” them with the beauty of this place I call home.
I am thrilled to be on board for my first summer at the Mountain Sky Guest Ranch! I grew up surrounded by the many lakes and forests of rural Maine, so I have a real soft spot for the outdoors. When I am not in class at the University of Maine I enjoy doing any activity there is, whether that may be a wilderness backpacking journey or a nice board game by the fire. I hope to help in any way as you and your family have the experience of a lifetime. I’ll also mention that if you’re looking for the proper way to clean and enjoy a lobster I’m your guy!
This is my third summer working for Mountain Sky and the Blank Family Foundation. Raised in Flagstaff, Arizona, I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a BS in elementary education and a strong desire to experience the ski-bum lifestyle. That desire took me all over the Southwest for five years until I landed here in Montana. I knew immediately I had found somewhere I could call home. During those adventures, I discovered the challenge course industry, which fulfilled my desire to learn and teach through experiential education. In my off-time, you may run into me riding my mountain bike, climbing, or fishing. I am always up for an adventure and love to travel and spend time with friends new and old. I look forward to this summer being the best yet, and hope to see you down at the Big Creek Challenge Course!
Lands & Wildlife
I have been fortunate to work with the Mountain Sky crew to make our ranch operations “best in class” – for the land, wildlife, and the people. I also work in the larger community with ranchers and other residents tackling some of the region’s larger issues like water, access to public lands, and wildlife management. If you have any questions about natural history, land management, or anything outdoors, I’m here to help.
